The deadline for individual applicants for the 2014–2015 fellowship year for humanities, social science, and creative arts is October 1, 2013. The deadline for natural science and mathematics is November 1, 2013.
The Radcliffe Institute Fellowship Program annually selects and supports 50 leading artists and scholars who have both exceptional promise and demonstrated accomplishments. Fellows focus on individual project while benefiting from a dynamic, multidisciplinary community at Harvard University. Only 5 percent of applicants are selected each year. Fellows—women and men—are at the forefront of the arts, journalism, humanities, sciences, and social sciences.

On July 12th, the French Cultural Center's 38th Bastille Day Party returns to Marlborough Street for what promises to be the celebration of the summer! This year's line-up, programmed by World Music/CRASHarts, Inc., will feature two exceptional francophone acts: Atlas Soul, whose music blends spicy hot Afro-Mediterranean grooves and melodies with a generous dose of jazz, funk and rock and Madame Moustache, a country-rock band hailing from Québec whose entertaining music is marked by humor and folly, seducing the most eclectic audiences. Be among the 2,000 revelers dancing in the street in true French style with live music and celebrate freedom, community, cultural diversity, and friendship between nations!

Gallery 263 is currently accepting applications for the Summer 2013 Artist Residence Program.
Gallery 263's Artist Residence Program is ideal for those whose creative practice embraces collaborative projects, community engagement, or are open to sharing space with other artists. Their first-floor storefront space allows for the artistic process to be on view for the neighborhood, investing the gallery’s local audience with a stake in the process, not just the product, of art making.
This is a work only residence, and preference will be given to emerging artist living in the Metro-Boston area. However, all artists are welcome to apply. Artists coming from outside the region must secure local housing on their own.

The 2013 Conference on International Opportunities in the Arts presented by TransCultural Exchange will take place in Boston on October 10–13, 2013. This four-day event brings together curators, galleries, funders, critics, artist-in-residency directors and artists from around the world for a unique cross-disciplinary platform to network, showcase, support and promote artists' work.
Full and partial scholarships to the 2013 Conference are based solely on need. Only those making an annual, adjusted gross income of $25,000 or less are eligible to apply.
To apply, please send a letter (no longer than 1 page) with:
1. the amount of your 2011 adjusted gross income (as entered on line 37 of your 2011 Federal Tax form; not your Schedule C), including a statement testifying that this amount is true and accurate.
2. the reason why you would like to attend this Conference and
3. why the full registration cost to this Conference is beyond your current financial means.
Letters must be received (not postmarked) by April 1, 2013.

two organizations have begun to collaborate on the planning of TransCultural
Exchange’s 2013 Conference on
International Opportunities in the Arts for which Boston University
The Conference’s theme “Engaging Minds” will
underscore TransCultural Exchange’s more than two decades of cross-disciplinary
and cross-cultural exchange programming. Its goal is to encourage artists not
only to attend programs where they can meet and work with their international
peers, but also to address many artists’ growing desire to engage in other
fields of study.
For instance, one panel entitled “Entrees Into
New Worlds” will present innovative ways for artists to contribute to new forms
of research. The panel’s speakers will include the Director of the CERN
artist-in-residency program Ariane Koek, the head of the new art program at the
Nobel Science Institute Helene Larsson and the engineer who modeled the
Guatemalan Siamese twins' brains and skulls for their successful separation,
Crispin Weinberg. Weinberg also has worked with such artists as Michael Day
Jackson and Kikki Smith.
In addition, the Conference offers an entire
day of professional development workshops, portfolio reviews, Pecha Kucha
presentations by art programs from more than thirty countries, tours of local
museums and a guided walk-through of MIT’s Art and Architecture Program.
The preliminary schedule with the panels and
speakers will be available on TransCultural Exchange’s website (www.transculturalexchange.org)

Harvard Graduate School of Design's Wheelwright Prize
Call for Applications
The competition for Harvard Graduate School of Design's Wheelwright Prize is officially open to early-career architects all over the world. The website wheelwrightprize.org is currently accepting applications for this unique 100,000 USD travel-based research grant. Applicants must register by starting their applications by February 15 (there is no fee to register); deadline for applications is February 28. The winner of the 2013 Wheelwright Prize will be selected from an international pool of applicants and announced on May 15.
The prize is an update of Harvard GSD's Arthur Wheelwright Traveling Fellowship, which was established in 1935. For the last 77 years, the fellowship was available only to GSD alumni. Under Dean Mohsen Mostafavi, the school has decided to open the prize to architects practicing anywhere in the world; an affiliation to Harvard GSD is no longer required. The aim of this unique prize is to foster new forms of research informed by cross-cultural engagement. "The idea is not just about travel—the act of going and seeing the world—but it is about binding the idea of geography to themes and issues that hold great potential relevance to contemporary practice," says Mostafavi.

The theme of The Boston Biennial 2012 is Illuminating Worlds.
We The Biennial Project have light which we pass onto others (that's you). As The Biennial Project's own light shines, we give other people permission to do the same. Our spotlight spills over to all around us and we want the world to see you through us.
Did you ever turn on the kitchen lights and watch the roaches scatter in all directions. Things lurk in the dark and when the lights go on shit gets exposed. Whether you worship the sun or think Jesus is the Son of God, we all know we can't live in the dark. Expose your inner self to the world around us.
Remember we are only as sick as our secrets.
Also don't be beholden to the theme. We just needed to come up something that sounded important.
Eligibility
Open to all artists. Open to all media, including 2-D, 3-D, sculpture, photography, performance, video, installation mixed media, and art from a kit. All works must arrive properly labeled with name, address, phone, email, and title of work, medium, and price, if applicable. All work must be secured with appropriate hanging hardware in place and ready to hang. Entry and release forms must be completed, signed, and accompanied by appropriate fee.
Reproduction of Art Work
The Biennial Project reserves the right to reproduce submitted works for Biennial Project printed materials, advertisements, electronic media, internet, television, catalog, DVD, and magazine. Copyright and other rights remain that of the artist.
Selection Process
Work will be selected from actual art. Jurying will involve viewing the entries individually and making determinations on the basis on the work.

Notification of acceptance will be posted on our blog by 5pm Wednesday Dec 5th. All art not accepted can be picked up at the gallery on December 15th from 3-6pm.
Fees
There is a non-refundable $25 entry fee for one submission per artist. Make checks payable to The Biennial Project, memo "The Boston Biennial." Sales are encouraged. A 20% commission will be deducted to support the very important work of The Biennial Project.

The French Cultural Center in Boston is
currently accepting proposals from Francophone and Francophile visual artists
for our Summer & Fall 2013 month long exhibitions to be installed in their
first floor gallery in our historic Back Bay mansion.
Proposals are being accepted for individual
and small group exhibitions. It is required that exhibitions have an articulate
central idea linked to a Francophone culture or French culture, convincingly
presented by the works shown in the proposal. This idea must be expressed in a
brief artist’s statement. The show can include works in a single medium or
several mediums, including painting, drawing, and photography.

Between March 9 and May 19, 2002, 99+ artists transcended geographical, political and cultural boundaries to stage 99+ exhibitions throughout the world. Afterwards, all 10,000+ art works were given away in the guise of "coasters" at bars, cafes and restaurants. To celebrate, TransCultural Exchange will stage a 10th year anniversary exhibit and give-away of 'The Coaster Project, Destination: The World' at Toronto's '2012 Culture Works Festival.' All the original "Coaster Project" artists have been asked to contribute a coaster; and, we are looking for other artists to also participate. If you would like to participate, please send a coaster sized artwork (4"x4" or 10cm x 10cm) to: TransCultural Exchange 516 E. 2nd Street #30 Boston, MA 02127 ATTN: Mary Sherman Coasters MUST arrive no later than July 10, 2013. Please include your mailing and email address with your submission. All coaster/artworkss will be exhibited and all coasters will be given out at the festival. The Distillery Residency - Summer 2012

The Distillery is a vibrant community of artists, artisans, and small businesses located in a beautiful mid 19th century converted rum distillery building in South Boston. For more than twenty years The Distillery has been a hub of creativity and the arts in the city of Boston, housing many nationally and internationally renowned artists and artisans.
The Distillery Residency is an 8 week free workspace-only residency running from June 18th to August 17th. Residents will be given a 240 sq/ft studio space to work in for the duration of their residency and will be provided a materials budget up to $800 depending on the scope of their project. The studio is a work space only, out of town residents are responsible for finding local accommodations during their stay.
