Call to Artists and Designers

Portland Design Auction - or PDA - is a live auction focused on contemporary art and design from makers working both nationally and internationally. Through the end of August they are looking for talented people to submit work to their jury of art and design professionals.

The auction itself will take place on October 10th, 2013 during Design Week Portland- a strategic move to advance PDA’s mission to connect as many makers with as many prospective buyers as possible, and to raise the bar for creative commerce in our local community and beyond. PDA is not a benefit auction - the primary goal is to ensure that artists and designers make a fair wage for their work, and that collectors, and design enthusiasts see the most inspiring pieces on the market. The aim is that participants will be rewarded artistically, socially and financially by doing what they love, and that taking part in this endeavor might jump-start or accelerate the individual’s creative career.

Auction submission is open to all working artists and designers and students of art and design, both in the U.S. and internationally. We ask that submissions are original, contemporary pieces that are a testament to the dedication you have to your craft. eva International, Ireland's biennial of contemporary art

Call for Proposals

Application Deadline: September 2, 2013

Applications can be individual artists or groups in any medium, and works can be existing works or new projects.

Artists can make up to 2 proposals and there is a submission fee of €20 for 1 proposal or €30 for 2 proposals. eva International is a not-for-profit organization where submission fees support selected artists and contribute directly to artists' production, travel, accommodation, transportation and exhibition budgets.

Are you a programmer, artist, game developer, musician, maker, animator, hacker, curator, scholar, or part of a community arts or technology program? At this event, Boston-area technology and arts organizations including community and industry groups, makerspaces, government agencies, and academic programs will introduce themselves and what they have to offer. This event is presented by Art Technology New England (ATNE), a non-profit dedicated to the growth, promotion, and cross-pollination of the New England art and technology community.

The goal of this event is to connect innovation organizations, technologists, scholars, artists, businesspeople, funding or governmental agencies, community education organizations, and academic programs who might not otherwise have the opportunity to network with one another.  Boston-area technology and arts organizations will be showcased including community and industry groups, makerspaces, government agencies, and academic programs. Participating organizations will be on hand presenting what their organization does and what sorts of individuals, groups, and agencies they’d be most interested in working with.

Palais de Tokyo Young Curators Program

Call for Proposals

The Palais de Tokyo is dedicated to the emergence of the newest forms of contemporary art and seeks out and supports the new players, and new directions. Thus in the summer of 2013 the Palais de Tokyo is entrusting its entire program schedule to young curators. (Applicants must be under 40 years of age.) Selected on the basis of the proposals they submit, the winners will bear witness to the perpetual reinvention of the issues involved in curating an exhibition, their scouting talent, and their ability to dream up new ways of relating to art. This event is likewise intended to demonstrate the dynamism of Paris and the surrounding area as part of a joint initiative involving a great many partners and institutions.

The proposed project must clearly demonstrate innovative thinking about exhibition formats. Whether it relates to a solo or a group exhibition, it must envisage occupying a surface area that can be as large as 250 square meters. It must be capable of evolving in accordance with the technical constraints and the diversity of spaces that apply at the Palais de Tokyo. The selection will be made primarily on the basis of the inventiveness of the project, its curatorial boldness, and its relevance in the current field of creative work.

The Siviera Association (Italy) - "The Secret Box"

Open Call to Participate

Project Description: Create a box (from 10 x 10 x 10 cm to a size that does not exceed 2 metre in height + width + depth) that will surprise the audience. The exterior of the box may evoke the inside and can be decorated, manipulated, structured as desired. It should be decent, clean, and not dangerous. The interior of the box may evoke the exterior and can be decorated, manipulated, structured as desired, it should be decent, and not dangerous.

This project is open to all artists and students, which will incorporate a variety of artistic languages and provide a contemporary artistic panorama. Deadline for receipt of pieces is April 10, 2012. Works will be showcased at Vernania at Villa Giulia or at Casa Dell'Artista - Casa Ceretti or at other locations that will be confirmed in May.

Each work should have the artist's name legibly written on the back and include and envelope with your full name, address, phone number and email address. Any additional materials sent with the works (catalogues, cds rom , business cards) will be exposed at the exhibition but it will not be returned. At the end of the exposition every participant will be able to get back his/her work on the last day of the last exposition or within 10 days at the secretary office of the schools mentioned above.

The Center for Contemporary Arts and AIR CELEIA

Open Call 2012

The Center for Contemporary Arts (Slovenia) is publishing an open call for collaboration in the AIR CELEIA 2012 program. The selected artist will be offered a free two-month stay in their residential flat (which is located in the city center in the immediate vicinity of the Center for Contemporary Arts and the local artistic district; the residence includes a kitchen, a studio, a bedroom, a bathroom and Internet) and a grant of € 600 per month, with travel expenses to be covered by the artist. The Center for Contemporary Arts will arrange for the artist to connect with the city and establish contacts with the local artistic community as well as get acquanited with the artistic events in the local and wider environment.

Application deadline is March 1, 2012. The selected artists will be informed about the decision by the end of March. In 2012, AIR CELEIA offers two residential stay periods between April and September.

AIR CELEIA program is conceived on the basis of a reciprocal model that enables the residential artist to become acquainted with, get in contact with, exchange experiences with and get involved in the local artistic community, offering at the same time local artists the possibility of establishing new connections and forms of collaboration, or of a potential presentation of themselves and their work internationally.

New Technological Art Award 2012

Open Call for Entries

The New Technological Art Award is an international art competition of the Liedts-Meesen Foundation, that focuses on the contribution of new technologies in the world of art.

Contest Details:
All living artists, regardless of their origin, can present their candidacy for art works less than two years old, but which may already have been exhibited. Each artist may submit only one work. The contest is international and uses English as main language. The registration can only be made on line by using an application form available on this website: www.ntaa.be/en/inschrijvingsformulier.php. These must be submitted by no later than March 31st, 2012. All later applications will be rejected.

An international jury will select 20 projects from all candidates before May 1st, 2012. This same jury will determine locations for the different works of art. These projects will be realized in order to be exhibited from September 15 till November 18, 2012.

Liedts-Meesen Foundation will award a cash prize of 5,000 EUR. The jury is entitled, besides this prize, to honor an artist with an honorable mention. There is also a prize from the public linked to the contest. This entitles the winner to a presentation after the contest in a European museum. The prizes of the Brussels Capital Region and the Flemish Community are not yet known.
