THE COASTER PROJECT, DESTINATION: THE WORLD (2012 Project)

Call to Participate
Ten years ago TransCultural Exchange's launched one of the largest democratic, global art projects in the world: 'The Coaster Project, Destination: The World.'

Between March 9 and May 19, 2002, 99+ artists transcended geographical, political and cultural boundaries to stage 99+ exhibitions throughout the world. Afterwards, all 10,000+ art works were given away in the guise of "coasters" at bars, cafes and restaurants.

To celebrate, TransCultural Exchange will stage a 10th year anniversary exhibit and give-away of 'The Coaster Project, Destination: The World' at Toronto's '2012 Culture Works Festival.' All the original "Coaster Project" artists have been asked to contribute a coaster; and, we are looking for other artists to also participate.

If you would like to participate, please send a coaster sized artwork (4"x4" or 10cm x 10cm) to:
TransCultural Exchange
516 E. 2nd Street #30
Boston, MA 02127
ATTN: Mary Sherman

Coasters MUST arrive no later than July 10, 2013. Please include your mailing and email address with your submission.

All coaster/artworkss will be exhibited and all coasters will be given out at the festival. Festival-goers can take one; and/or make one of their own for someone else to take. In addition, TransCultural will print out cards, explaining the original project.

The front of the card will say:
