Call for Entries

Application Deadline: September 10, 2013

The winning curator is given opportunities to realize the proposal as an exhibition that will take place in the first half of 2014 at Akbank Art Centre, Istanbul, accompanied by an exhibition catalogue and additional activities. SHARE PRIZE 2013 - Real Time | Real Space

Call for Entries

Piemonte Share is announcing a new edition of the Share Prize, the international competition designed to discover, promote and support art in the digital age.

Entries for the Share Prize can be submitted from June 20-August 20, 2013, by completing the entry form on their website: www.toshare.it.

This year, Share Festival will be shining the spotlight on how communications have become simultaneous and geolocalized in contemporary cities, sharpening its focus and critique onto the integration of digital networks in the urban environment. Share Festival sees artists not just as aesthetic messengers but as social agents, who use networks to change the way we think about media and relational space.
"The artistic realm is overlapped with the physical, urban world to explore a new dimension in which art can redirect the social and political leanings of networks, communities and artists into performances. Instead of taking humans into virtual space, digital technology has enhanced the way we interact with others and with the physical world. Today, the map is no longer a representation of the territory; rather, it incorporates it. How do people shape, and how are they shaped by, the integrated platform created between data and location?"

An international jury will short-list six projects for the prize, who will be selected to take part in the 9th Share Festival, to be held in Torino from November 8-17, 2013, at the Regional Museum of Natural Science. The names of the short-listed finalists will be announced by the beginning of September 2013.

Harvard Graduate School of Design's Wheelwright Prize

Call for Applications

The competition for Harvard Graduate School of Design's Wheelwright Prize is officially open to early-career architects all over the world. The website wheelwrightprize.org is currently accepting applications for this unique 100,000 USD travel-based research grant. Applicants must register by starting their applications by February 15 (there is no fee to register); deadline for applications is February 28. The winner of the 2013 Wheelwright Prize will be selected from an international pool of applicants and announced on May 15.

The prize is an update of Harvard GSD's Arthur Wheelwright Traveling Fellowship, which was established in 1935. For the last 77 years, the fellowship was available only to GSD alumni. Under Dean Mohsen Mostafavi, the school has decided to open the prize to architects practicing anywhere in the world; an affiliation to Harvard GSD is no longer required. The aim of this unique prize is to foster new forms of research informed by cross-cultural engagement. "The idea is not just about travel—the act of going and seeing the world—but it is about binding the idea of geography to themes and issues that hold great potential relevance to contemporary practice," says Mostafavi.

For details about eligibility and the application process, please see wheelwrightprize.org. For more information, contact Cathy Lang Ho, cathy@CLHoffice.com. Email inquiries only.
