Call for Applications

The deadline for individual applicants for the 2014–2015 fellowship year for humanities, social science, and creative arts is October 1, 2013. The deadline for natural science and mathematics is November 1, 2013.

The Radcliffe Institute Fellowship Program annually selects and supports 50 leading artists and scholars who have both exceptional promise and demonstrated accomplishments. Fellows focus on individual project while benefiting from a dynamic, multidisciplinary community at Harvard University. Only 5 percent of applicants are selected each year. Fellows—women and men—are at the forefront of the arts, journalism, humanities, sciences, and social sciences.

Contemporary Arts International Artist in Residency program (Massachusetts)

Call for Applications

The Contemporary Arts International Artist in Residency program was designed to encourage and assist artists to realize new projects and ideas. The program is open to working 3D and multidisciplinary artists who want to experience living and working in a special New England art environment. Artist residencies typically last between two and seven months.

 

This year CAI will host the first Container Man Expo Musicians-in-Residency Program. Three musicians will be invited to create a composition using the Container Man - a 40 foot shipping container consisting of 14 large music instruments, sound system and multi-media capabilities. Food, housing and studio space provided.

Gallery 263's Artist Residence Program

Gallery 263 is currently accepting applications for the Summer 2013 Artist Residence Program.

Gallery 263's Artist Residence Program is ideal for those whose creative practice embraces collaborative projects, community engagement, or are open to sharing space with other artists. Their first-floor storefront space allows for the artistic process to be on view for the neighborhood, investing the gallery’s local audience with a stake in the process, not just the product, of art making.

This is a work only residence, and preference will be given to emerging artist living in the Metro-Boston area. However, all artists are welcome to apply. Artists coming from outside the region must secure local housing on their own.

This juried exhibition is open to sculptors 18 years and older producing large-scale site-specific or existing sculptures suitable for long-term outdoor exposure. Artists accepted to exhibit will each receive a stipend of $700.

SculptureNow Exhibition at The Mount (Lenox, MA)

SculptureNow exhibition of large-scale outdoor sculptures at The Mount, Edith Wharton's Home, a historic site and a center for culture in Lenox, MA. Proposals from established and emerging artists for this juried exhibition are now being accepted. Existing or new sculptures may be submitted for consideration, and innovative works are encouraged. A guided tour of the site will be offered on November 18, 2012.

Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed Foundation Grant

Provincetown Art Association and Museum (PAAM) announces the fourth annual Lillian Orlowsky and William Freed Foundation Grant, which provides financial backing for mature American painters. PAAM is proud to help support under-recognized artist funding.

American painters aged 45 or older who demonstrate financial need are encouraged to apply for a grant. The primary emphasis is to promote public awareness and a commitment to American art, as well as encouraging interest in artists who lack adequate recognition.
Grants range from $5,000 to $30,000.

Boston Children’s Hospital Main Building Addition - Feature Walls

Open Call for New England Region

Deadline: Friday, June 22, 2012 Boston Children’s Hospital Main Building Addition - Feature Walls

Eligibility: Open to artists residing in New England.

Budget: $20,000 per floor, with an overall, all-inclusive budget of $100,000. Finalists will receive a $1,500 proposal development fee.

The Creative Arts Program at Boston Children's Hospital invites artists/designers experienced with durable wall-based art to forward qualifications for the new Main Building addition at 57 Binney Street, slated to open in summer 2013. A series of feature walls – (approximately 7’ x 12’) in patient corridors have been designated on Floors 6-10 for a contiguous public art project. The hallways are visible to immediate traffic and from the 6th floor courtyard and patient rooms in the adjacent building through a glass curtain wall. The theme for the floors bridges the celestial with the depths of the sea, featuring space, sky, earth and the ocean in descending order. The five floors and the art panels are intended to be experienced in their entirety from the exterior and should also provide interest close-up for the young patients, and people of all ages and backgrounds. To ensure an appropriate hospital and healing environment, all surfaces are required to be smooth and relatively non-reflective. The depth of the installation cannot exceed 1.5 inches. The installation is planned for April 2013.

Exhibition Opportunities ArtSpace Gallery (Maynard, MA)

Call for Artists

Proposals should be for solo or group exhibitions and present a coherent theme. The exhibit should be based on a unifying concept – social, historical, philosophical, cultural, political or other. Artists/curators are responsible for creating post cards and distribution, hanging and removing exhibit, arranging an opening reception, and being a liaison to ArtSpace.

"Face the World – Global Portrait Party: Eclipse Mill Edition"

Call for Participants

Project: ‘Face the World – Global Portrait Party: Eclipse Mill Edition.’

Join the party at the gallery of the Eclipse Mill, in North Adams, on Sunday, May 6, from 2-5 pm. Here, artists and non artists are being invited to participate.

Long distance participation is encouraged as well. Paint a portrait of a friend between now and May 6, or make a portrait in any medium of your choice, and email a jpeg to astrid_hiemer@yahoo.com. (Please include the names of the artist and the friend.)

The portrait parties started in Toronto, Canada and are being planned globally with ‘Friend Me Projects’ (FMP) and are Facebook based. This event will be the first party held outside of Canada. All portraits will eventually be uploaded to the FMP-website.
