DESCRIPTION
The Camargo Foundation is an educational trust established under the laws of the State of New York. The Camargo Foundation maintains to be a center for the studies for the benefit of scholars who wish to pursue projects in the humanities and social sciences related to French and Francophone cultures. The Foundation also supports creative projects by visual artists, photographers, composers, and writers.The Foundation offers, at no cost, eleven furnished apartments.

Technical Information: Dark room, reference library, music/conference room, composer's studio.

Accommodation Information: The Foundation's campus includes twelve furnished apartments. The apartments are fully furnished and equipped.

Paid by Host: Accommodation, stipend of $1500

The Camargo Foundation buildings are located on the highest cliff in France, each with a breathtaking view of the Mediterranean and Cap Canaille.. The Foundation is within a five-minute walk from the village, and a half-hour from Marseilles by train or bus. The cultural life in the Aix-Marseilles area is rich in opera, theatre, art exhibits, lectures, ballet, classical music, and cinema

Application Criteria:

The selection of fellows is based only on an evaluation of the projects proposed and on each applicant's professional qualifications. Because of the limited number of studios, only one composer, one visual artist, and one photographer can be accepted each semester. Although there is no French language requirement for a Camargo Fellowship, it is highly recommended that fellows be as familiar with the language as much as possible.
