AICA will launch its new Incentive Prize for Young Critics during the opening events for this year’s Dakar Biennial (7 May-7 June 2010).

Writers aged between 18 and 40 are invited to write a review of the Biennial of between 1000 and 2000 words, in one of AICA’s official languages (English, French, Spanish). The Prize will consist of a fare-paid invitation to participate in the next AICA Congress towards the end of 2010 (place and dates to be confirmed) and deliver a short paper there, on one of the themes of the Congress. The winning review, as well as other approved reviews, will be published on the AICA site.

The prizewinner will also be offered free AICA membership (including membership card and annual stamp) for a period of three years.

Candidates must grant AICA full copyright clearance on their texts, regardless of whether or not these have already been published or are published by a third party, at some future date. (AICA will not stand in the way of the subsequent publication or reproduction of any text, subject to due acknowledgment).
The jury will consist of the 5 members of the Fellowship Commission, as follows: Marie-Pascale Gildemyn (Belgium), Yacouba Konate (Open Section, International President of AICA ), Henry Meyric Hughes (UK), Tineke Reijnders (NL) and Irini Savvani (Greece) with Maite Beguiristain (Spain), and one representative of AICA Senegal.

Reviews must all be submitted to the AICA office in Paris by e-mail (aica.office(a)gmail.com) and, in hard copy, by post, by a deadline of 15 July.
Hard copies must also show clear evidence of being posted or hand-delivered by 15 July, at the latest and must be addressed, by name, to:
