The Conseil des arts de Montréal offers a residency program at the Darling Foundry for professional visual artists and curators from the Americas. Each year, one curator is awarded a two-month residency. Each resident receives a grant that contributes towards living expenses, travel fees and production costs.

The Darling Foundry, located in Old Montreal (Quebec, Canada), is an alternative visual arts complex with an outstanding architectural design. The Darling Foundry provides various opportunities for research, creation, production, and exhibition. Its multifaceted spaces provide room for private studios, residency studios, technical workshops, gallery spaces, a restaurant and offices over a 3500 m2 surface. A studio measuring 60 m2 with separate living accommodation and common living spaces are provided. Artists have access to wood and metal workshops, with technical assistance if need be. In addition, each artist is given the option to participate in open studio events, studio visits by art professionals, networking events, and excursions.

Housed for two months in a 60m2 live-in studio at the Darling Foundry, the curator will be given opportunities to organize and promote events and conferences. The residency includes:
-Airfare (max CAN$1,200)
-A live-in studio for two months from 1st June to 31st July 2010
-A stipend of CAN$250 per week

Applications are evaluated by a committee that takes into account the quality of their work and the potential impact of a residence on the candidate’s career. Applications should include:
-identification form (available at www.fonderiedarling.org);
-a letter of the candidate’s intentions describing current goals and projects;
-a curriculum vitae; -digital images of past and recent works (maximum 30);
-texts, documents, catalogues, press reviews, as well as any other pertinent information.
