HIAP - Helsinki International Artist-in-residence Programme

DESCRIPTION:
The idea of the residency is to provide time and space for creative work in a stimulating environment. HIAP encourages artists-in-residence to carry out collaborations with local artists and arts organizations, and to realize projects accessible to a wide range of audiences. The Cable Factory cultural complex is the working-site for about 50 Finnish artists' studios, several other artistic and cultural collectives, exhibition and performing art spaces, a restaurant and cafe. Over 700 people work at the Cable Factory daily.

Duration: variable

Accommodation Information: Purpose-built live-in studio. The three international studios are located on the fifth floor of the Cable Factory complex. The studios each have an area of 50 m2 including a private kitchen and bathroom.

Paid by host: Accommodation, studio.


Paid for by artist: Individual traveling expenses, food, materials.

Location: The Cable Factory occupies the premises of an old factory. By train: Helsinki Central Railway Station and by plane: Helsinki Vantaa-Airport. It is 2,5 km from the center. By tram it takes 20 minutes.

Application Criteria: HIAP gives priority to whose interests lie within contemporary culture. Working knowledge of English is required.
