The Artist Residencies International
Conference, Worldwide Network of Artist Residencies / Res Artis General Meeting
2012 TOKYO will
be held from October 26 to October 28.
For the first time in 14
years, the General Meeting of the worldwide network of artist residencies Res
Artis will focus on Asia . With this region’s
rapid economic growth matched by an increasing attention on its artists, artist
residencies take on greater significance. Allowing artists the time, space and
often funding to create work in an atmosphere of international dialog and
exchange, these programs also offer new possibilities for collaboration among
museums, biennales, universities and municipalities throughout the world.
They provide artists with
the means to help us all consider new visions of the future. Bringing together speakers from around the
globe to offer their perspectives, Res Artis 2012 Tokyo will consider how we
can contribute to this vital interchange, assist the trans-national flow of
ideas, further the mission and goals of art centers and support residency
programs.
