Artist Residency Program at La Paternal Espacio Proyecto

Art & Technology - Residency opportunity

LPEP is an independent space whose objective is the promotion of dialogue between artists of different disciplines and nationalities, as well as between art and society at large, with a specific interest in projects focusing on Art and Politics. LPEP offers a workspace for the research, production and exhibition of works in the local circuit. We also offer contacts and connections with institutions related to art and culture (galleries, museums, artists, cultural centers and alternative spaces) as suits the needs of each artist-resident. For the current cycle, we offer the opportunity to exhibit in the Centro Cultural Recoleta from Buenos Aires, in the exposition “Fase Art, technology and post-ecology” in March 2012.


Since its inception three years ago, more than eighty artists of different disciplines and nationalities have exhibited in the residence.


Must be 21 or older (or be legally emancipated). Must have good command of Spanish and/or English. Must have your own project in artistic production or investigation (whether in art or communication). Must have interest in collaborating with LPEP’s ongoing programs and with the projects of other residents.


To be considered, candidates must present a portfolio with the following (in PDF format): Detailed description of proposed project to be developed during the residency Letter of intention Personal, professional, and artistic experience Portfolio of past work (in PC-compatible audiovisual formats) Months of the year you plan to be in residence.


For residences from January to april, project portfolios must be received by October 27, 2011


Priority will be given to projects that: Strive to transcend the limits of their original discipline, deterritorializing their field and employing new technologies in their development. Reflect on the state of contemporary environmental and tecnologic situations. Propose interaction with and participation of general public and public spaces. Investigate and deepen collaborative methods with other artistic and non-artistic disciplines


Bedrooms between 12 and 15 mts, 2 Shared kitchen and bath, large outdoor terrace furnished common area, workshop/studio space, exhibition space, production office. The residence will also be graced with the presence of Vladimir and Vigo, the 2 resident felines.


Stay of 1 to 3 months: 430 USD per month
Stay of 4 to 6 months: 370 USD per month

Note: LPEP does not offer full grants. We will work to help artists in applying for grants and outside funding.
