1708 Gallery - Exhibition Proposals, Richmond, Virginia

Call for Exhibition Proposals

1708 Gallery's annual exhibition season runs from September through August and consists of up to 8 exhibitions featuring national and international emerging and established artists. Current students are not eligible. Each exhibition is approximately 6 weeks long. Artists working in all mediums including, but not limited to, video and film, new media, installation, painting and social practices, and curators may submit exhibition proposals to 1708 Gallery. Proposed work must have been created within the last three years.

Submissions are reviewed by 1708 Gallery's Exhibition Committee, which includes professional artists from 1708 Gallery's Board of Directors. Selected artists/curators will receive an exhibition (approximately 6 weeks long) at 1708 Gallery and a $300 honorarium. Pending funding, this amount may increase.

Artists/curators are responsible for delivering, shipping, installing, and deinstalling their work and all related costs. 1708 Gallery will provide assistance with installation and deinstallation. Exhibiting artists/curators are encouraged to attend the exhibition opening and participate in a gallery talk.

The deadline for proposal submissions is October 15, 2011.
Proposals received will be considered for the 2012-2013 season.
