THE WASSAIC PROJECT WINTER RESIDENCY

Call for Applications

ABOUT

The Wassaic Project Winter Residency cultivates and supports community for emerging artists, musicians, writers and other creative professionals. The Winter Residency Program offers nine people the opportunity to live and work in the heart of a rural community and offers two local artists studio space. The Wassaic Project seeks a group of people working in a diverse range of media who want to produce, explore, challenge, and expand on their current creative practices, while participating in a grass roots, community-based arts organization.

PROGRAMMING
Participating residents will work intensively to develop, explore, and expand on their practice, meet new peers, and have the opportunity to participate in the Summer Festival 2012.

The Wassaic Project facilitates visits by professionals in a variety of fields who are available to residents for one-on-one meetings and presentations.

FEES
In an effort to serve and support emerging artists, all of the residencies offered are subsidized. The value of the winter residency is $1100 per month – including studio space, residential space, as well as extensive programming, performance and exhibition opportunities. Thanks to our continued support from our donors and grants, residencies are offered at $400 (plus $200 in utilities) per month per resident. As well as one month’s security deposit.

Local artists who do not need living accommodations are encouraged to apply for studio-only residencies. The fee for a studio-only residency is $400 per month, plus one month’s security deposit.

REVIEW PROCESS
Residents are selected by a review committee, composed of the board of directors along with professionals in the field. They will be selected based on the quality of their work, commitment to their practice, and ability to interact positively with the community at large.
