Call for Submissions -- Darling Foundry

The Darling Foundry believes that international exchanges bring an indispensable cultural dynamic, stimulating creativity and creating lasting international links. In addition to their involvement in the Darling Foundry’s exhibitions, many foreign artists are welcomed in residency. The Darling Foundry’s studios are live-in spaces offered to artists from around the world.

Artists in residency have the opportunity to entirely devote themselves to their creation in a new engaging environment. At home in the Darling Foundry, the artists are rapidly immersed in Montreal’ s artistic community, multiplying professional and personal contacts, benefiting from inspirational structures dedicated to the creation and production of visual art. Studio visits, open-door events, educational activities, and exhibitions are also regularly organised to facilitate integration.

Thanks to government support, the Darling Foundry currently hosts four residency programs:

FRANCE-QUEBEC EXCHANGE RESIDENCY

This program offers young French and Quebecois artists a trans-Atlantic experience. Established in 1995, this program is based on a reciprocal agreement between the Darling Foundry (Montreal) and Point Éphémère (Paris). Four artists per year are invited for a three-month residency.

Partners:

SWISS RESIDENCY OF THE CONSEIL DES ARTS ET DES LETTRES DU QUÉBEC
This is a residency for Swiss artists under the auspices of an exchange program between the cities of Montreal and Basel. Two Swiss artists per year are invited for a six-month residency.

THE CANADA COUNCIL FOR THE ARTS INTERNATIONAL RESIDENCY
This residency is for internationally established artists from around the world. Welcomed for six months, artists are given a production bursary that allows them to present their works publicly during their stay.

THE CONSEIL DES ARTS DE MONTRÉAL RESIDENCY OF THE AMERICAS
A newcomer to the Darling Foundry, this residency encourages artistic exchanges in the Americas from North, South, East and West, including within Canada. Visual artists are eligible for a four-month residency and curators for a two-month stay.
